Continuing Education

Continuing education credit is co-sponsored by The New England Society for Treatment of Trauma

and Dissociation ( NESTTD ) and The Institute for Continuing Education. Continuing education

credit is offered as listed below. Unless otherwise stated in publicity materials, half-day programs

offer 3.00 contact hours; full-day programs offer 6.00 contact hours. Full attendance is required.

Application forms are available on site. To receive continuing education credit, attendees must

complete all CE forms, sign in/out daily, and complete an evaluation of the training. If you have

questions regarding continuing education, the program, grievance issues, or for a listing of learning

Psychology: The Institute for Continuing Education is an organization approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education to psychologists. The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content.


Counseling: The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professionals, Division of Professional Licensure, recognizes programs for licensed mental health counselors that are sponsored by the American Psychological Association (APA) or its approved CE providers.  

The Institute for Continuing Education is approved as a provider of CEs by the APA.

 

The Rhode Island Board of Mental Health Counselors and MFT accepts programs for licensed clinical mental health counselors if sponsored by APA or its approved CE providers.


The Connecticut Department of Public Health, Professional Counselor Licensure Division, accepts programs or licensed professional counselors if sponsored by APA or its approved providers.


The Vermont Board of Allied Mental Health Practitioners regulations do not list organizations or agencies automatically accepted for continuing education.  The VT regulations state that attendees should maintain a copy of certificate of attendance for verification in the event of audit.  

 

NBCC credit is not offered for events sponsored by the New England Society Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation (NESTTD). Attendees are urged to check the regulations of their state licensing/certification boards regarding programs accepted for CE credit.   

 

The above-listed information reflects a recent review of the regulations regarding continuing education for counselors in the State of MA, RI, CT, VT, but participants are responsible for determining the accuracy of this information and/or checking the regulations of their state licensing/certification boards regarding continuing education credit.  


Social Work:  The Institute for Continuing Education, Provider No. 1007, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) through the Approved Continuing Education program (ACE). The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 4.13.15 - 4.13.18. Social Workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits.

  

Marriage/Family Therapy:  Programs have not been pre-approved for Massachusetts/Rhode Island MFTs.


Nursing:  The Institute for Continuing Education is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the California Board of Nursing, Provider No. CEP 12646. Nurses are responsible for contacting their state boards to determine if credit issued through an approved provider of the California Board of Nursing is acceptable for credit by their state board.


Skill Level: All programs except "Fundamentals" are intermediate to advanced. "Fundamentals" is beginning to advanced.


Instruction Methodology: As indicated in publicity materials. Proframs are didactic and include audio-visuals. At times they include demonstrations and experiential exercises. "Intensives" generally include some didactic, along with experiential exercises, case examples and/or group discussions.
